Kristen to play Princess Diana in new movie “Spencer”

It has just been announced today that Kristen will play the iconic, Princess Diana in the new biopic Spencer, to be released in 2021


via Deadline.com – in Spencer, a drama that shapes up to be a hot package for the virtual Cannes Market. The Steven Knight-scripted film covers a critical weekend in the early ‘90s, when Diana decided her marriage to Prince Charles wasn’t working, and that she needed to veer from a path that put her in line to one day be queen. The drama takes place over three days, in one of her final Christmas holidays in the House of Windsor in their Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England. Production is expected to begin in early 2021.

The package will be unveiled to buyers at the virtual Cannes Market by CAA Media Finance and FilmNation Entertainment. CAA Media Finance arranged the financing and will make the U.S. distribution deal with Endeavor Content, while FilmNation Entertainment represents international rights.

The film will be produced by Larraín, director of films that include Jackie and Neruda, along with Fabula partner Juan de Dios, Jonas Dornbach, Janine Jackowski and Paul Webster. Knight’s script work includes Eastern Promises, Peaky Blinders, Locke and The Hundred-Foot Journey. Read More

Kristen in talks to star in adventure-thriller “Underwater”

Kristen is in talks to star in new adventure-thriller Underwater which sounds really exciting.


via The Hollywood Reporter – Will Eubank, who co-wrote and helmed the sci-fi thriller ‘The Signal,’ is directing.

Kristen Stewart is in negotiations to star in Underwater, a Twentieth Century Fox adventure thriller that is being produced by Chernin Entertainment.

Will Eubank, who co-wrote and helmed the sci-fi thriller The Signal, is directing.

Underwater centers on an underwater scientific crew that, after facing an earthquake, are forced to go on a dangerous journey for survival. The story has been described as an underwater Armageddon.

If a deal is made, Stewart will play the film’s lead, a jaded and hardened crewmember. A March production start in New Orleans is being eyed.

The move puts the actress, who has developed a strong résumé working on a wide range of indies since her days of toplining the Twilight movies, back into a more mainstream space.

Although Stewart has starred in such big-budget pics as Snow White and the Huntsman, it is her work in such films as Equals and Still Alice that have shown she is interested in material that is deeper and meaningful than most standard fare. Her upcoming projects include Lizzie opposite Chloe Sevigny, and she also has plans to direct another short film, this one about gun control.

Kristen to star in “JT Leroy”

We have some new movie news. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kristen will star in JT Leroy alongside James Franco and Helena Bonham Carter.


via The Hollywood Reporter – Fortitude will launch the project to foreign buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market; Justin Kelly is writing and directing.

Kristen Stewart, James Franco and Helena Bonham Carter are circling the biopic JT Leroy, a Hollywood-set transgender story.

Justin Kelly, who directed James Franco in 2015’s I Am Michael, will helm the film from a script he wrote. The true story goes behind the scenes of the hoax of JT LeRoy, a woman who pretended to be a man who identifies as transgender, tricking the rich and famous in Hollywood, the fashion world and elite literary circles.

The biopic will be based on memoir and life rights of Savannah Kroop, who was behind the complicated ruse. LBI Entertainment, Aquarius and Rabbit Bandini Productions are producing with Aquarius providing equity financing.

Franco is attached while Stewart and Carter are currently in negotiations. Fortitude International will launch the project to foreign buyers at Berlin’s European Film Market, with a 2016 production start date planned. CAA is repping domestic rights.

Kelly is no stranger to bringing fascinating real-life tales to the big screen. I am Michael, which was based on New York Times Magazine article My Ex-Gay Friend, centered on a man, Michael Glatze, a gay activist who renounced homosexuality after he became a Christian pastor. It screened at both Sundance and Berlin in 2015. He’s repped by CAA and LBI Entertainment.

Following up her strong performances in 2014 films Clouds of Sils Maria and Still Alice, Stewart was most recently seen in American Ultra with Jesse Eisenberg, Equals (which premiered in Toronto) with Nicholas Hoult and Kelly Reichardt’s Certain Women, which premiered at Sundance. Her other upcoming projects include Woody Allen’s next feature, Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and reuniting with director Olivier Assayas for Personal Shopper. She’s repped by Gersh and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.

Franco will star in the Hulu TV miniseries 11.22.63, and his other upcoming work includes The Disaster Artist, which he directed and stars in as Room director Tommy Wiseau. He also directed and stars in The Long Home, which also features Josh Hartnett, Josh Hutcherson and Ashton Kutcher. The always-busy actor-director will soon shoot Why Him?, a comedy also starring Bryan Cranston and Zoey Deutch. He’s repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Sloane, Offer.

Carter starred in Suffragette and Cinderella and next will be seen in Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass. She’s also attached to Sony’s 55 Steps. She’s repped by WME and MGMT Entertainment.

Kristen to star in new Lizzie Borden Movie

Kristen will star in the new Lizzie Borden movie alongside Chloe Sevigny

via The Hollywood Reporter – Pieter Van Hees will direct the story about the infamous axe murders of the Borden family.

Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart will help tell the tale of Lizzie Borden.

Pieter Van Hees, who helmed the 2014 film Waste Land, will direct the new untitled psychological thriller about the grisly murders of the Borden family. Bryce Kass will write the script.

Sevigny will play Borden, the strange and fragile woman who was infamously tried and acquitted for murdering her father and stepmother with an ax in 1892. The film will explore the events that led up to that night.

Stewart, who is in early negotiations, will play the Bordens’ live-in maid, Bridget Sullivan. Sullivan was a witness to the family tension, and may have been in the home when the murders were committed. She testified at the trial.

The crime was salacious and notorious for the age, inspiring children’s rhymes such as: “Lizzie Borden took an ax/and gave her mother 40 whacks/when the job was finally done/gave her father 41.” It also spawned many theories about who committed the murders and why; one theory insinuates that Borden and Sullivan were lovers.

Naomi Despres (Kill the Messenger) is producing, while Playtone is executive producing. The Solution is selling the project, which has no start date, at the upcoming American Film Market. WME is repping domestically.

Borden’s tale has been adapted for TV and film, most recently the 2014 TV movie starring Christina Ricci.

Sevigny, who was previously attached to a Lizzie Borden project at HBO, starred on FX’s American Horror Story: Asylum and American Horror Story: Hotel. She won a Golden Globe for best supporting actress for her work on HBO’s Big Love, and her other credits include Bloodline, Portlandia and the film Electric Slide. She’s repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment.

Since Twilight, Stewart has focused on indie fare, including Equals, the Drake Doremus film that premiered at Venice and then Toronto. Among her other recent credits are American Ultra, Still Alice and Clouds of Sils Maria, for which she received a Cesar award (France’s equivalent for the Oscar). She has a slew of projects coming up including a Woody Allen film and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, directed by Ang Lee. She’s repped by Gersh and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.

Kristen to star in Olivier Assayas’ ghost story “Personal Shopper”

Another new movie project for Kristen. She will star in “Personal Shopper”, directed by Olivier Assayas. Filming will start in the last quarter of the year, in Paris


via Variety.com – Kristen Stewart is set to star in Olivier Assayas’s “Personal Shopper,” a Paris-set English-language ghost story taking place in the fashion underworld.

Assayas previously directed Stewart in “Sils Maria” which world premiered in competition at Cannes and earned Stewart a best actress Cesar (France’s Oscar equivalent), making her the first American actor to win a Cesar.

Penned by Assayas,”Personal Shopper” brings back the “Sils Maria” team: Producer Charles Gillibert for CG Cinema, MK2 for international sales and Les Films du Losange.

Gillibert said “Personal Shopper” will feature some of same themes as “Sils Maria” and will also have a genre/fantasy dimension.

Shooting will start in the last quarter of 2015 in Paris.

Gillibert has “Mustang,” the directorial debut of Turkish helmer Deniz Gamze Ergüven, playing at Directors’ Fortnight. Ahead of its world premiere on Monday, Ergüven is being buzzed about as a Turkish filmmaker to watch.

Sony Pictures Worldwide has bought the worldwide rights to the new movie by Kelly Reichardt which Kristen recently filmed. The movie still doesn’t have a title


via Deadline.com – EXCLUSIVE: Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has closed a worldwide rights deal for the untitled film that Kelly Reichardt just wrapped in Montana. Starring Laura Dern, Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, James LeGros, Jared Harris and Lily Gladstone, the film is a series of vignettes that revolve around the lives of people in small-town Montana. Reichardt wrote the script based on short stories by Maile Meloy.

Reichardt previously directed Night Moves, Meek’s Cutoff and Wendy And Lucy. Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino and Anish Savjani of filmscience are producing. Todd Haynes and Larry Fessenden are the exec producers.

Kristen Stewart is in negotiations to join Ang Lee‘s “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Newcomer Joe Alwyn was cast in the titular role, while Steve Martin and Garrett Hedlund are also part of the cast.

Based on the bestselling novel by Ben Fountain, story follows 19-year-old Texas-born infantryman Billy Lynn (Alwyn) and his fellow U.S. servicemen who survive a firefight in Iraq in 2005. The Bush administration brings the veterans home for a victory lap that leads them to the Dallas Cowboys’ football stadium where they’re honored during the team’s Thanksgiving halftime show before they return to war in Iraq.

Stewart is lining up the role of Kathryn, Billy’s older sister.

Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 and Chinese distribution company Bona Film Group are onboard alongside TriStar and Film4. Production is slated to start this month.

Simon Beaufoy, who won an Oscar for writing “Slumdog Millionaire,” adapted the book for Film4 and The Ink Factory. The film will be produced by Marc Platt, Ink Factory’s Stephen Cornwell, Rhodri Thomas and Simon Cornwell, as well as Lee.

Stewart, best known for “The Twilight Saga,” most recently won raves for her roles in “Still Alice” opposite Julianne Moore and “Clouds of Sils Maria” opposite Juliette Binoche. She will next be seen in Drake Doremus’ “Equals” and recently signed on to star in Woody Allen’s next film.

She is represented by Gersh.

via Deadline.com – EXCLUSIVE: Woody Allen has begun casting his 2015 feature film, and he has set Jesse Eisenberg, Bruce Willis and Kristen Stewart to lead the ensemble, I’m told. No comment from the Allen camp. As usual, the film is untitled and there are no plot details, and it’s being produced by Letty Arsonson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson, his usual collaborators. Allen might be the one director who, when he courts talent, doesn’t really show them a script. Everybody wants to work with him and they consider themselves lucky to be asked and if they’re available, they say yes almost always.

Kristen Stewart Joins Untitled Kelly Reichardt Project

Finally we have some exciting new project news


via Deadline.com – EXCLUSIVE: Kristen Stewart has joined Michelle Williams and Laura Dern in the hot indie drama known as the Untitled Kelly Reichardt Project. Written and directed by Reichardt, the film is a series of vignettes that revolve around the lives of people in small-town Montana.

Stewart will play a young lawyer from Boise who takes a teaching job several hours from her house. Despite her nerves about teaching, she’s determined to prove to herself that she can do it. Soon after taking the job, Beth develops a close friendship with Jamie, a local woman who’s auditing her class. James Le Gros and Jared Harris (Mad Men), and relative newcomer Sara Rodier also have been cast in the ensemble project, which is being produced by Neil Kopp and Anish Savjani. It will shoot on location in Big Sky country.

More details have also emerged about the characters and the story line. Dern is set as Laura Wells, a lawyer in Helena who keeps going back into a bad relationship with Ryan Lewis (Le Gros), a married man who couldn’t care less for his wife and daughter. Williams portrays Ryan’s wife, Gina Lewis, who works in advertising with her philandering husband. SaraRodierFinally, Harris is a former construction worker who was injured in a work-related accident and starts plotting a hostage attempt. Rodier, who plays the daughter of Williams and Le Gross, was the only child series regular on CBS’s Bad Teacher last year. She is 15.

Stewart (Twilight, Still Alice, Snow White And The Huntsman) is repped by Gersh Agency and McKuin, Frankel, Whitehead LLP. Reichardt’s most recent credit is Night Moves, which she directed and co-wrote with Jon Raymond. Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning starred in that 2013 film. She is repped by UTA. Rodier is represented by Coast to Coast, Industry Entertainment, and Felker Toczek Gellman Suddleson.
