We now have new details on Snow White & The Huntsman 2 (which appears will no longer be using that title) – the sequel to the 2012 hit movie. According to this new information, Kristen will not be returning to reprise her role as Snow White.. however if her character does end up being featured, it would be either as a cameo or small scenes from the first film (possible flashbacks).

Walking Dead director Frank Darabont is in early talks to direct the sequel taking over from Rupert Sanders who directed the first movie.

via The Wrap.com –
Kristen Stewart is not expected to return as the female lead, though she may cameo in the sequel

“Walking Dead” creator Frank Darabont is in early talks to direct “Snow White and the Huntsman 2” for Universal Pictures and Roth Films, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

Darabont has not received an official offer yet but is expected to engage with the sequel when one does materialize, as Universal and producer Joe Roth are high on his take for the sequel. He beat out Gavin O’Connor (“Warrior”) and Andy Muschietti (“Mama”) for the high-profile gig.

Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart is not expected to return for “SWATH 2,” which is expected to emphasize Chris Hemsworth‘s role as the titular Huntsman. Thanks to “The Avengers,” Hemsworth is a much bigger star since the first film was released in June 2012. Since no script has been finalized, if Stewart does return, her appearance would likely be limited to a cameo or a handful of brief scenes.

As such, the sequel/spinoff may drop “Snow White” from the title and rebrand with a Huntsman-centric title.

Charlize Theron is also expected to reprise her role as the evil queen, who was left trapped in her own mirror at the end of the first film.

Rupert Sanders directed “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which grossed nearly $400 million worldwide. Universal plans to release the next film in the fairy tale series in 2016.

Darabont previously directed the Stephen King adaptations “The Shawshank Redemption,” “The Green Mile” and “The Mist,” and he also helped turn “The Walking Dead” into one of TV’s biggest hits. He’s represented by CAA, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Filming is set to commence in Japan and Singapore in August. Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales on the film and launched the project to buyers at the recent Cannes Film Market, selling the film in over 35 territories.

Kristen’s upcoming movie Equals in which she will star alongside Nicholas Hoult, will film in Japan and Singapore in August. Check out the new synopsis below

via ScreenDaily.com –
EXCLUSIVE: Mister Smith boards futuristic love-story set to shoot in Japan and Singapore in August.

David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment has newly boarded international rights to the stellar Cannes package Equals, set to star Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and Warm Bodies lead Nicholas Hoult.

Breathe In and Like Crazy director Drake Doremus will direct screenwriter Nathan Parker’s (Moon) futuristic love story set in a society where emotions have been eradicated. Stewart and Hoult will play the film’s young couple rebelling against their society.

Producers are Ridley Scott, Michael Schaefer, Ann Ruark, and Jay Stern and Chip Diggins of Route One, who are also financing. Executive producers are Mike Pruss, Lee Jea Woo, Choi Pyung Ho and Russell Levine.

UTA Independent Film Group arranged financing for the project – which was previously with Exclusive Media – and will sell the North American rights to the film, which is due to start in Japan and Singapore in August.

German electro musician Apparat – well known for track Goodbye, which featured in the climactic scene of the season 4 finale of Breaking Bad – will provide the music, production design will come from Tino Schaedler (Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix), and costume design will be by Michael Wilkenson (American Hustle).

Equals tells the story of Silas (Hoult) who lives in a future society called The Collective. The inhabitants of this modern world are a new breed of humans called Equals. Equals are peaceful, calm, fair, and polite and life in The Collective is perfect; there is no greed, no poverty, no violence, and no emotion. But a new disease is threatening everyone: SOS, or Switched-On-Syndrome, is activating in its victims everything they thought they’d escaped: depression, sensitivity, fear, love but once a person is overtaken with SOS, they are sent away to The Den, and never seen again.

When Silas is infected, he becomes an outcast, but he notices one person who seems to understand what he’s going through. Nia (Stewart) has feelings, but she seems to be able to hide them. When he confronts her, they discover a connection that quickly takes over everything. They feel love and intimacy for the first time in their lives but the only way for them to insure their survival is to escape.

Combining two of the industry’s hottest sales names and a stellar production team, Equals is likely to be among the most in-demand titles at the Cannes marché.

Mister Smith CEO David Garrett told Screen: “With such a paucity of strong material in the market place, reading Equals was like a breath of fresh air. It has everything a broad audience is looking for: a compelling narrative with a beating heart. The director Drake Doremus is a real emerging talent who has brought together a fantastic cast and a really strong creative team. And the decision to shoot this in Japan and Singapore is going to give this a truly original style and voice. The enthusiastic support of UTA and Route One has been very refreshing and having Michael Schaefer and Ridley Scott as Producers is the icing on a very tasty cake”.

Hoult is repped by UTA, 42 Management and Felker Toczek, Stewart by Gersh and McKuin Frankel and Doremus, whose Like Crazy won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, by UTA and Morris Yorn Barnes.

Writer Parker last year participated in Screen’s inaugural ‘Brits in LA’ series.

Mister Smith’s slate also includes Inimitable Pictures’ Dan Fogelman’s directorial debut, Forecast Pictures’ biopic Race about Olympic athlete Jesse Owens and Russell Crowe’s directorial debut The Water Diviner.

It appears that one of Kristen’s upcoming movies Equals will film in Tokyo

Doremus is next set to direct “Equals,” a futuristic romance he aims to shoot this year. With Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult starring, it certainly has a bigger feel. (Essentially it’s about an uber-rationalist society that’s been stripped of all romantic feeling, seemingly to its betterment, and what happens when a man starts developing emotions again.)

Of course, as he’s Drake Doremus, he’s hardly doing it the conventional way either. The movie will be shot in Tokyo (Doremus wanted the futurism the city can offer) and financed not by a studio but with Indian Paintbrush, an independent company that bankrolled Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” as well as “Like Crazy.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter – Uma Thurman will join Kristen and Jesse Eisenberg in the cast for American Ultra which will be shooting in New Orleans in April.

via THR –
Uma Thurman is in negotiations to join Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart in American Ultra, an action comedy being directed by Nima Nourizadeh.

Lionsgate is distributing.

Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman (Enough Said, Can a Song Save Your Life?) is producing with David Alpert and Britton Rizzio of Circle of Confusion, the company behind The Walking Dead.

Max Landis, who wrote the hit sci-fi found-footage movie Chronicle, penned the script for Ultra, which tells of an unmotivated stoner named Mike (Eisenberg) who lives with his girlfriend (Stewart) in a small, sleepy town. One night, their lives take an unexpected turn when Mike’s past comes back to haunt him, and he becomes the target of a government operation set to wipe him out.

Thurman will play a government worker who spearheaded a secret program to create sleeper warriors, and now that someone wants to kill her creation, she will fight back like a momma bear protecting her cub.

The movie is heading toward an April 14 start, with Kevin Scott Frakes of Palmstar Media Capital and Raj Brinder Singh of Merced Media Partners executive producing.

Thurman next stars in Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and will be released by Magnolia on March 21.

She is repped by UTA, Untitled and Schreck Rose.

Kristen’s upcoming new movie American Ultra where she will co-star alongside Jesse Eisenberg, has been picked up by Lionsgate for $7 Million

Via Deadline.com –
XCLUSIVE: The appetite for scripts and partially finished films is soaring. Lionsgate is tying up a deal today to pay $7 million to pre-buy U.S. distribution rights to American Ultra, the action comedy that begins shooting in New Orleans in five weeks with Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart starring for Project X director Nima Nourizadeh. In the script by Chronicle writer Max Landis, Eisenberg plays a stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend (Stewart) is upended when his past catches up with him, putting him the crosshairs of a government operation bent on wiping him out. It’s a co-production between A Likely Story and Circle Of Confusion, with Anthony Bregman, David Alpert and Britton Rizo producing, and Kevin Scott Frakes of Palmstar Media Capital and Raj Brinder Singh of Merced Media Partners exec producing.

The buzz on this one has been building since Berlin, and I thought a deal might be made there. This rivals the record $7 million Berlin deal that The Weinstein Company paid for U.S. rights to the Morten Tyldum-directed The Imitation Game, the film that sold based on script and promo reel about WWII war hero Alan Turing, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley starring. The same team at CAA brokered this giant American Ultra deal with Lionsgate after the agency packaged the film and arranged the financing. While many felt that the results of the Berlin market were underwhelming, sometimes those festivals need to be evaluated by results that are not immediately evident. It is becoming more common for dialogue on big films like this one to begin at Berlin. Some of the deals fall in place shortly after, or during the Cannes Film Festival in May. Clearly, studios need to fill slots and haven’t been developing enough, so strong prices should continue to be paid for material and packaged pictures like American Ultra.

Kristen and Jesse Eisenberg will begin filming American Ultra in New Orleans this April. Kristen and Jesse previously worked together playing Em and James in Adventureland – who’s excited for a Kristen/Jesse reunion?

Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg are headed back to New Orleans, this time for the indie action-comedy “American Ultra.” The film, directed by Nima Nourizadeh (“Project X”) and written by Max Landis (“Chronicle”), is scheduled to shoot from April 14 to June 10 in New Orleans, according to the state film office.

The film will reportedly see Eisenberg play a stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend (Stewart) is upended when his past catches up with him, putting him the crosshairs of a government operation bent on wiping him out.

“Simply put, ‘American Ultra’ will be the most fun you can possibly have in a movie theater without the use of drugs, fireworks or canola oil,” producer Anthony Bregman was quoted as saying in November when he announced the project. Bregman is producing “American Ultra” with David Alpert and Britton Rizzio.

The film will mark a return to town for both actors. Stewart has shot a number of films in Southern Louisiana over the past few years, including “Welcome to the Rileys,” “On the Road,” “The Yellow Handkerchief” and both installments of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.” Eisenberg shot the magic-themed heist film “Now You See Me” in town in 2012.

“American Ultra” will also mark a reunion for Stewart and Eisenberg, who worked together previously on the 2009 dramatic comedy “Adventureland.”

The film is just one of a number of film and TV projects that are shooting, or preparing to shoot, in state. Below, find the latest Louisiana production listings — including contact information for prospective crewmembers — courtesy of the state-run Louisiana Entertainment.
